Despite restoration and restructuring carried out in the XVI and XIX century, the Ducal Palace boasts ancient medieval roots, allowing us to admire, in particular, a wide portal with pillars supporting a balcony and a balustarde. The construction is simply a fortified residence. The wing adjacent to the cathedral keeps a pillar representing St.Riccardo, erected in 1741 to prevent a plague of locusts.
